Flood Receovery Twelve Months on - Ladies not Forgotten.

Flood affected ladies in the Bellbowrie area on the weekend of the 17 March were given the opportunity to take time out for themselves. Twelve ladies allowed up to spoil them with high tea, a relaxing afternoon of meditation and massage. The ladies who were flood affected in the 2011 January floods were each provided with a gift wrapped cup and saucer along with a care bag, door prizes and books to read their children and/or grandchildren. Brisbane City hosted the event at the Bellbowrie Guide Hut with the support of Lieutenant Governor Robyn Russ and District 30 clubs who provided pampering gifts for the care bags, lucky door prizes and cup, saucers or mugs. The Quota cupcakes provided a nice touch to the tiered plates on each table. Cups of tea and coffee were made and enjoyed as stories were shared. The ladies enjoyed the warm atmosphere and the opportunity to meet each other. Counsellor Margaret De Wit joined in as we spoilt the ladies who attended. Thanks to all the helpers on the day and to those behind the scenes, you made it something really special. The remaining 13 care bags and cups and saucers have been issued to ladies who were flood affected in the area who were unable to attend on the day.
One of the ladies who attended was supported by Quota after the 2011 floods. She attended to say thank you as she was so pleased to meet us and to say how much the support provided by Quota after the flood meant to her and her family at a time when they were very low. she commented that reaching out to them gave them hope when everything seemed to be going wrong. Thankfully she reported they are all doing well now.

NEW CLUB - EASTERN BAY, NEW ZEALAND
A wonderful celevration party for the Charter of Eastern Bay Quota Club. President Chris installed and presented the members with the Charter.
Congratulations to Lieutenant Governor Shona Brown and her team of willing helpers who worked tirelessly to fulfill a dream of a new club in District 37.
Governor Karla and Past South Pacific Area Director Lois Watson were on hand to assist with all the needs associated with the Charter of a new club.

FANTASTIC NEWS
Past South Pacific Area Director Karen Murphy, current International Treasurer and now International President Elect. It is wonderful to see the tradition of leadership in the South Pacific Area reach such a high level with Karen following International President Chris in two years time. This is certainly indicative of the leadership qualities we have in Quota and the opportunities for all Quotarians to take up the challenge of leadership as we near the Annual General Meetings at club level maybe you too will be the future International President Elect.
Congraulations Karen for your commitment to Quota International.

Past District 40 Giovernor Jeanette Gray again showed us all how it can be achieved. These enthusiastic young people are ready, willing and able to continue the great work of Quota International.

D30 Celebration for International President Chris and International Treasurer Karen.
The new Quota International Leadership Team for 2011-2012 has been installed, and we proudly announce that 3 members of the International Board are from the South Pacific Area.
Hervey Bay Branch of Quota International of Maryborough, Inc. launched with 9 members on the 21st March. Congratulations to Lieutenant Governor Sandra Verrall and Members of Quota International of Maryborough on this initiative.
Quota came to the South Pacific in 1930, and the first club was chartered in Sydney in 1933.
Quota now celebrates with clubs in Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand, making up the South Pacific Area. Quota links people of all ages, occupations and nationalities, in a network of service and friendship.
With a motto of "we share", Quotarians are known especially for their service to deaf, hearing and speech-impaired individuals, and disadvantaged women and children.
Quota members share the values of serving and encouraging others, developing friendships, and promoting international understanding and goodwill!
